How I Help

Practical support for the way you think, communicate, work, and learn

Parents & Caregivers

Systems & Communication
Parents & Caregivers:  Does this sound familiar?

*Chaotic transitions
(morning/ before school, homework, bedtime)

*Missing assignments

*Report card differs from what student says

*Phone/tablet/gaming arguments

*Constant reminders

*Last-minute projects and deadline work

Students without systems of their own flounder, and parents and caregivers are the ones holding things together and picking up the pieces. It's exhausting for the adults and stressful for the students.  There's a better way.

I work with students to develop systems that they help build so they take ownership of their responsibilities.  I provide accountability and support as they test out these new systems and give guidance along the way.

If a student has neurodiversity, the communication can be more complicated. I help parents and caregivers get curious about their student's perspective and provide tips for cultivating harmony and clarity within their communication.  From executive function to literal thinking, I have experience adjusting communication for those who think differently.  The solution to the frustration is often a small change that produces big results.

Students

Motivation & Environment
Students: Is this you?
  • It's tough to stay on top of due dates.

  • Despite your best efforts, you leave something you need at home (notebook, homework, etc.)

  • You cannot seem to get motivated to do your work OR

  • It feels like it takes forever to get work done.

  • You put off homework until the last possible minute.

  • Maybe you just need some help writing your college essay or planning for a large project.

  • Perhaps you're struggling to adjust to college or plan out your work from just a syllabus.

If any of this is you, I can help!  If you're having trouble keeping up with work, you're probably having lots of frustrating conversations with your parents or caregivers.  You may be tired of the nagging, and you may be feeling stressed.  More often than not, it comes down to a lack of systems in place to help you succeed.  Whatever worked before may have stopped working, but that doesn't mean you aren't smart or that you can't be successful or that something is wrong with you.  It's not.  But something is probably wrong with your environment.  Where we position ourselves and what we allow near us as we work makes a huge difference.  If you're struggling, I can help.

Maybe your issue is communication or advocating for yourself or just trying to navigate life in college. If you feel you can't communicate what you need to a teacher or parents, I can help.  If you need help with a college essay, or guidance on a research project, I've got you there as well!  I've taught a college-level research class for nearly a decade, and I know how to communicate effectively in writing while still making room for your student voice.  Perhaps you finally made it to your dream school only to discover you aren't quite prepared for how to stay there.  Whatever the sticking point, if you're ready to make some adjustments, I'm ready to help.  Schedule a discovery call and let's get to work!

Leaders

Connect - Cultivate - Create

Is this you?

You hired someone with a perfect resume that doesn't have the same chemistry with your team.  Things may be awkward.

You sometimes feel that what you say gets misinterpreted.

Expectations and actions don't always meet where they should.

If any of this resonates, I can help.

I work with leaders to foster connection, cultivate understanding, and create environments that bring out the best in everyone.

Teams are often a diverse group of people with strengths and challenges.  If neurodiversity is in the mix, it adds another layer to the communication and needs.  Friction is inevitable but also instructive.

Together, we can examine friction, learn from it, then upgrade the approach to take your team from functioning to flourishing.

"Talking with Mrs. G is so helpful. From a huge research project to my college essay, Mrs. G knew exactly what I needed to help me succeed. I was finalizing my college essay and couldn't quite get it right. With Mrs. G's help, we accomplished, in less than an hour, what it would have taken me hours to do on my own."

High School Student

R.L.

"I struggle with procrastinating, especially by getting distracted with social media.  Mrs. G was able to help me come up with solutions to combat these bad habits and build better ones. She also helped me set up my schedule for next year, explaining the benefits of the courses, what classes they lead to, and the workload for each class. It was so helpful!"
